February 5th is approaching quickly as the New England Patriots and New York Giants prepare for battle in Indianapolis, Indiana’s Lucas Oil Stadium (aka home of the Colts). Their fans are arranging for one competitive weekend on and off the field as they assemble their tailgating gear bursting colors of red and blue. Ranging from $1,000-$6,000 a ticket the fans must certainly be dedicated (and have a strict savings plan). Some consider it crazy, some most certainly do not.

What about the rest of us who don’t actually attend the game? Marketing efforts still seem to maintain our interest and might even attract a new audience that don’t even prefer to watch the game. The Super Bowl XLVI offers a valuable experience for even those at home watching. Some viewers look forward to the halftime show more than the game itself. Others can’t wait to criticize the commercials and get psyched for the performances. To each their own.

This one game effects so many people and businesses, why not make Monday a national holiday called, ‘Super Rest’? Everyone tends to think the super bowl is the only game in town. Well, they might be the largest televised football game nationwide (good for them) but it is not the only event in town.

There are so many venues of all sizes that have games, performances, dance recitals, concerts, fight nights, bike nights and non-profit events going on that same weekend. Hey, it might even be someone’s birthday party the same weekend (hope they enjoy football!).

But regardless whether you are a football fan or not you still have other events going on throughout the year. All events need a fan base and support to be successful and we feel this is an opportune time to express our gratitude to all the large and small venues nationwide who have chosen us to assist with their admission needs. Although we may not print or advertise during the largest televised football event yet we do have daily opportunities to reach our true fans.

Mee, along with his children, had to balance caring for his wife, who was dying of brain cancer, with dealing with escaped tigers, raising endangered animals, working with an eclectic skeleton crew and readying the zoo for a reopening.

Habitat for Humanity Build Day!

Group: Worldwide Ticketcraft

Date/Shift(s): Saturday, October 29, 2011 8 AM – 12 PM

Shift Location: 112 Wilson Avenue, Delray Beach, FL 33483

What to Expect: Volunteers will assist Habitat’s construction crew with sodding and landscaping. Volunteers must be 16 or older to participate – no exceptions! Please make sure to wear closed-toe shoes, light-weight clothes and to eat a full meal before arriving on site. Heat and hunger are sure to result in a call to the paramedics! Volunteers will be under direct sunlight the entire shift so please prepare accordingly. Sun-block and water will be provided on site. No experience is necessary! We have trained crew leaders to guide you through the day’s tasks.

September 11, 2001 began as a bright morning in many regions of the United States. But that was all shattered suddenly when a plane crashed into the World Trade Center. Everyone seems to remember where they were when they heard this news. As tragic events continued to unfold that day, it became more and more surreal, as if time was standing still. The days that followed seem to be etched into our consciousness, and its effects are still being felt across the globe.

This day has since been referred to as ‘The Day the United States once again became United,”(1) and ‘The Day the World Changed.”(2) Americans truly banded together and we seemed to become one in purpose to help rescue and comfort. Many of the first responders, our heros, became victims as well. Heartfelt sentiments and condolences were sent from many nations around the world.

A decade later, the world will be watching as the National September 11 Memorial Plaza (3) opens on the site of the former World Trade Center complex. This memorial will be dedicated on September 11, 2011, and open to the public on September 12, 2011. This memorial features two enormous waterfalls and reflecting pools, each about an acre in size. The names of the nearly 3,000 victims of the September 11, 2001, and February 26, 1993 terrorist attacks will be inscribed on bronze panels lining the two pools. It will be a special place for remembrance and reflection. The surrounding plaza will be filled with Oak trees, and one Callery Pear tree. This tree is known as the Survivor Tree, which was nursed back to health after surviving the 9/11 attacks.

The 9/11 Memorial Museum is being built in this plaza also, and will open a year later in September 2012. The entrance to the Memorial Museum will be a large pavilion with a glass atrium housing two enormous tridents within its glass atrium. The Twin Tower ‘tridents’ are artifacts from the steel facade of the original North Tower. Even though the pavilion will be inaccessible to visitors this year, these majestic tridents will be visible from the plaza at the Anniversary Commemoration.

The museum will provide visitors with the opportunity to learn about the men, women, and children who died. The Museum plan calls for visitors to enter the exhibition along a corridor in which portrait photographs of the nearly 3,000 victims form a ‘Wall of Faces,’ intended to communicate the scale of human loss.

Historic rebuilding will also be taking place in the plaza of four new towers rising just beyond the northwest and southeast corners. Millions of visitors are expected during this first year, and free visitor passes are available online and by phone.

As you reflect with your loved ones on this anniversary, let’s remember to always be united as a nation, and a world, and never forget…never.
